Tucker and Elaina had a tradition of coming to the same beach every year on the 4th of July at Mount Baldy in the Indiana Dunes. It’s one of those places that’s just become part of their story over time.

This year started the same way. They spent time by the water, soaking in the beautiful evening along the shore of Lake Michigan.

And then, everything shifted. He got down on one knee. Just the two of them, in a place that already meant something, stepping into something new. She said yes.

As Elaina was still taking in everything that had just happened, she got another surprise. Their families had been there, waiting nearby, ready to celebrate.

That beach will always mean something different now. What used to be a yearly tradition is now the place where everything changed. The place where their story shifted from what had been to what’s ahead.

These raw and real moments are always our favorite to photograph.
