Indian Engagement Taka Ceremony | Northwest Indiana | Rodrigo + Keerat

The rain had an almost melodic sound as it hit the ground with a rhythmic sequence. The Luna Rooftop Bar of Abbiocco Italian Cuisine in Chesterton, Indiana was beautifully prepared for guests to arrive for Rodrigo and Keerat’s Taka Ceremony. A Taka Ceremony is a Sikh tradition preceding the wedding where the wedding date is set by both families. Seeing Rodrigo’s Mexican family blend with Keerat’s Indian family was unique and it made us almost forget we were in Northwest Indiana. Shortly after the festivities of the ceremony, we found a nearby field featuring deep, earthy colors that only a fresh rain could bring out. It complimented Keerat’s gorgeous green dress. Even though we were shooting in frigid temperatures, the rain let up just enough, and the results were stunning.
