Chicago Sunrise Elopement | North Avenue Pier

It all started with a Facebook post. Whitney, from Arizona, made a post asking for prayer requests; Dakota, from Chicago, left a comment. They dated long distance for a while until it became undeniable they were supposed to be together. Dakota proposed, and they started planning their future together. As time went on they decided they didn’t want to wait to make it official… they decided to elope before their full wedding. We helped them plan their sunrise elopement on the beautiful North Avenue Pier in Chicago. When we showed up to the Airbnb it was still dark outside, and Chicago was very quiet. We could see the crescent moon hanging above the city, and the only thing we could hear were birds singing early in the morning. Although she hadn’t got much sleep with the early wake time, Whitney was full of giddy excitement as she got ready for the day everything was going to change. We had to time it perfectly for the sunrise… the moment she was ready it was time to head to the pier! Dakota paced the pier as he waited for the moment it was all to begin. They first met back to back, prayed, and took their time before finally turning around to see each other. Dakota lost it as he saw just how beautiful Whitney was, inside and out, and that this woman was going to be his forever bride walking through everything in life together. They eloped surrounded by only a couple family members and a still quiet Chicago. The beauty of the sunrise seemed to swirl around the two of them as the sun warmed the cool Lake Michigan air. This incredible moment won’t be forgotten. The rest of the morning was absolutely beautiful with the early morning light filtering through everywhere we went. They finished their celebration with breakfast at Terrace 16, a Chicago Rooftop Restaurant in the Trump Hotel. Keep an eye out for their full wedding at Mustard Seed Gardens as we will be posting it soon!
