Whitney and Dakota’s story began with a Facebook post—her prayer request, his response. What started as a long-distance romance soon grew into an undeniable love.
Before moving to Texas to begin their life together, they chose to elope as the sun rose on Chicago’s North Avenue Pier. When we arrived at their Airbnb, the city was still dark and quiet, with only the crescent moon and early birds breaking the silence. Despite the early morning, Whitney was full of giddy excitement as she got ready.
At the pier, Dakota paced as he waited. They met back-to-back, prayed, and then turned to see each other for the first time—Dakota overcome with emotion at the sight of his bride. They exchanged vows in the glow of the sunrise, surrounded by just a few family members and the soft morning light off Lake Michigan. It was the sweetest, most intimate beginning to their new chapter together.
